Ojo de Agua
To see details of this section:
We dragged ourselves away from the luxury hacienda at Nopala where we had spent 2 very restful nights. We were feeling very energised and ready to get moving again.
We had not even got back into the main street before Enrique and Emrie stopped and presented us with a jar of their honey. We normally avoid glass jars when shopping but we could not turn down this delicious gift. It is delicious in our morning porridge.
We cycled across some wide open countryside on our way to the stepped pyramids at Tula. The scale of history there is quite something and we spent a long time taking it all in.
We stopped for the night at Atotonilco but were disappointed to find that the museum didn't open until 10am as we had planned to visit it before leaving.
Our route out of town took us past an extensive cement factory. We rode past it for many miles. Don't be fooled into thinking that bike touring is all about endless miles of beautiful scenery:)
I had spotted Atom Cycles on Google maps and was keen to visit to see if they quality inner tubes to replace the ones from Decathlon that don't hold air (but don't bubble when underwater). I thought that Atom cycles would be a likely bet as they are frame builders. Vladimir and Puelche run the show from their home (which we would never have found without guidance from a friendly local). They gave us a tour of their workshop and showed us their latest build. Their work is really high standard and it was great to talk about bike design with them.
They didn't have inner tubes but rode with us to a nearby shop to help us a) find it, b) get the right ones, and c) make sure we didn't get over-charged. It was a delight to meet them.
We are staying with Ubaldo tonight, a RACMex host. We are facing a dilemma - head into Ciudad de Mexico for some culture or detour round it in an clockwise direction. We will sleep on it.

This blog definately needs more photos of boring cement factories and other boring things so we don't get too jealous of this amazing adventure ;-)
