On the move again
To see details of this section:
By and large I had a really relaxing birthday in El Centro. The highlights were an Italian meal, a delicious waffle breakfast, WhatsApp chats with family and some friends, and a few beers.
We woke early and got on the road promptly, keen to start the next stage of our journey. In no time we were at the Mexican border.
We were unsure of how complicated it would be, how long it would take and whether all our paperwork would be in order. Thus it was a relief to be in Mexico really quickly with another stamp in the passport.
We got lots of friendly waves and 'hola's which made us feel very welcome.
We changed some dollars into pesos, bought a SIM card (we now have data - woo woo!) and made a coffee in a park before heading out of town on route 5.
It was hot. 30°C hot. The nervous excitement of crossing the border, the after effects of the vaccine and one birthday beer more than was prudent meant we were exhausted by 3.
Pulled off the road, found a nice place to camp under some mountains and snoozed. This is the view from inside out tent.
No need for the flysheet and blue sky overhead. If you look closely you will spot a pylon in the background. If you look even closer, you will see there are no wires on it. Odd.
