As these posts are reliant on WiFi, the gaps between them are intermittent. Hence two posts in two days!

So far we have been averaging a daily spend of $55. This includes all our food, park fees, campground fees and other bits and bobs.

We cook for ourselves more or less all the time. Don't be fooled by the picture of hash browns from the diner in an earlier post. We do this because it is our favourite way. We enjoy shopping in stores and meeting people in them and we enjoy being creative with our two pans.

Breakfast is usually porridge with a spoonful of peanut butter stirred in. I love it but Rachel is less keen. We tarted it up the other morning by making it with some chocolate milk we had left over. That was a real treat.

We usually find somewhere nice each day to stop and brew coffee. I've posted a few pictures of these before. This means time off the saddle, a rest and saves lots of money. Buying coffees every day would soon increase the daily spend. We usually supplement this with something like a peanut butter and banana wrap.

Lunch can vary depending on what we have. We recently discovered that we could make quesadillas on the top of the Trangia and they have become a firm favourite (they rely on finding tortillas the right size for the pan).

At the other end of the scale are delights such as the offering below. It served its purpose.

Dinner is usually a combo of carbs, beans and veg. This fills us up, keeps the protein levels up and provides a few vitamins and minerals.

We have been really enjoying apples taken from trees beside the road. Free, healthy and tasty.

Whilst we have stayed in two motels, the costs of these are offset by the nights that we wild camp (dispersed camping as it is known here), Warmshowers hosts and cheap campground fees ($10 total for our night at Burney Falls)*

All in all, it is fairly easy to keep our daily spend down whilst still having a great time and enjoying nice food and drink.

*We ended up doing a detour to Burney Falls because it was recommended to us by the manager of a motel who let us rest and use their WiFi for half an hour or so and by a rancher with a hugely impressive moustache we met outside a store.
