Chilly start the next day with frost on the ground but quickly found ourselves on a wide open plain and soon warmed up in the sun
We stayed the night in Klamath Falls with a wonderful Warmshowers host who fed us and did all our laundry. She also persuaded us to carry on South. We had been debating this given the colder weather at altitude but she assured us that the scenery was worth it (we had been contemplating having back out to the coast)
The forecast was for heavy rain the next night so we opted for a motel. A historical hunting lodge, apparently John Wayne has stayed there in the past. The was a massive thunderstorm so we were glad to be under a roof.
Next stop was the lava beds national park. Stunning. We walked in lava tubes that went 200m into the ground and ride through miles of lava landscape.
Found a nice spot to camp in the woods for another chilly night
We have amazing views of Mt Shasta and Mt Lassen all covered in snow (photos not downloaded yet, might and then to the next post).
On our way to Burney Falls which are a bit off route but everyone we met days that we must visit them!
Ooooh! More Geology. Lava tubes look fascinating. Glad you are staying warm and dry and it's worth it for the scenery x
