Quincy

We have had an amazing two days' cycling past the east side of Mt Lassen and into Quincy.

The roadside vegetation has been every changing and really beautiful. It is evident that autumn (fall) is starting as we are seeing some lovely colours in the trees.

We had a dry camp amongst the trees of Lassen forest. It is amazing how resourceful you can be when you only have 3 X 750ml bottles of water for cooking and drinking. (Thankfully we could refill at a rest area after not much riding in the morning)

We were treated to an amazing sunset through the trees. It only lasted for a few minutes before fading so we were really pleased to catch it.

It was a warmer start to the day because of some cloud cover. We were really in need of a shower after several days without one (apart from a dip in a river) so we decided to do a big day to get to a warmshowers host in Quincy.

131km of riding, thankfully lots of it was downhill.

The highlight of the day was meeting Cody while we were stopped for coffee in the woods. He was surveying the power lines and came over for a chat. He was interested in our tour and really pleased we were experiencing 'the real California', he described the area as the wild west and reassured us that bears are everywhere but nothing to be afraid of. He was a great guy and it enriched our day to chat to him.

We stopped at a supermarket for supplies to take to our warmshowers host. It is amazing what you can fit on a bike with a few straps :)
